— The Brunettes

Our roots in new york city

Formed in 1978, The Brunettes quickly became a staple in NYC's iconic venues like CBGB, Max's Kansas City, and Electric Circus. the band's original run, though short-lived, built a formidable reputation on the live circuit. After a hiatus, they reformed in 2019 for the Max's Kansas City reunion, and released their first album, "Live at Max's Kansas City, June 7, 1980." This live recording perfectly encapsulates the raw energy of that era and their audience's enthusiasm, capturing The Brunettes at the height of their early powers.

The sound: original nyc punk/new wave

Today, The Brunettes deliver a modern take on late 1970s NYC-style Punk/New Wave. Our music is a powerful collision of hard rock and power pop, a sound that ignited a musical revolution and influenced countless bands. Expect savvy, smart lyrics, relentless bass lines, flashy guitars, and kick-ass drums. It’s a sophisticated sound that will still transport you back to the CBGB  and Max's era that fueled 40 years of alternative music. Our songs are fun, fast, and FUNNY!

What makes us so great?

We've seen and done a lot, as musicians, as New Yorkers, and we work damn hard. We show up ready to every performance. Our talent, energy, and attitude go all the way up to 11. Oh, and we got jokes.
